Unfortunately, we had our first assignments which is called the Expansion Of The Square. I was totally confused about this assignment. Even after watching some of our senior's work, still a question mark on my head. I think is because some of our senior's works are too impressive which doesn't make sense to me. However, Ms Lisa told us to think of 5 different themes for the our square before going for execution.
My theme is skeleton which can be any part of it. So I did some research on it and found out that skeletal hand is quite interesting.
These are some samples from the internet.
And this is my sketch for the skeletal hand and also the ribcage.
We need to create 2 different boxes which are asymmetry and symmetry. So the skeletal hand will be the asymmetrical box and the ribcage will be symmetrical box.
As for the hand, I'm going to use the inside part of the hand structure to act as the components for the phalanges and bones at the outside. So it will become like this...
As you can see, the phalanges outside of the box are able to fits into the hand. That's my box!
And also the ribcage in gold paper.
On the presentation day, we placed both of our work on the table side by side and get ready to present it to the whole class.
After the class presentation, we have another exhibition which included our work and the junior's in the gallery. So we will have to choose our own spot for the display and also help each other to set up the wiring because the work pieces are hanging from the top.

Overall, I think this assignment has really boost our creativity to another level. It also trained our craftsmanship at the same time.
